March 9, 2009 - Making Communities Stronger: Developing HIV/AIDS Services for African Newcomer Communities in Calgary
On behalf of the University of Calgary and AIDS Calgary Awareness Association, you are invited to take part in an upcoming community dinner and discussion. The event is an opportunity to come together and share ideas about developing stronger awareness, support services, and HIV prevention for African newcomer communities in Calgary .
This event is open to the public. We hope to see participants from African communities and service providers. A free dinner will be provided and transit tickets are available on request. Please contact the number below to reserve a seat.
Over the past few years, a research team from AIDS Calgary and the University of Calgary has been talking to service providers and individuals from a variety of African communities in Calgary . The research conducted has focused on understanding HIV/AIDS service needs and priorities of African newcomers in our city within the context of other Calgary African community needs. This dinner and discussion will bring us together to share knowledge, build partnerships, and develop a plan of action to move forward with this important work.
