Chinese travel restrictions lifted
In advance of the Shanghai Expo 2010, China has removed travel bans for people living with HIV. China follows the United States which removed its own long held travel restrictions in January of this year.

HIV rates high in federal prisons
The rate of HIV in federal inmates rivals that of some sub-Saharan African countries. At an estimated 4.6% of the prison population, HIV rates are 15 times greater than in the general population. Hepatitis C rates are also a concern.

Recycling needles
Syringes that were destined for the landfills have a new purpose. Syringes used in medical settings, or in needle exchange programs can be sanitized, ground up and repurposed for use in building materials.
